Kumar Rocker is SportsCall’s Player of the Week.
The Vanderbilt right hander, son of former Auburn Tiger Tracy Rocker, took the ball for the Commodores in a must-win Game 2 in Vanderbilt’s Super Regional against Duke. Rocker responded by no-hitting the Blue Devils, who just a day earlier had tagged Vandy’s staff for 18 runs.
Rocker struck out 19 in his mesmerizing performance, which was the eighth no-hitter in NCAA Tournament history and the first ever in a Super Regional. The Commodores would go on to win Game 3 of the Super Regional, punching their ticket to the College World Series.
