Wednesday was a big day for many Auburn Baseball players and signees as the 2017 MLB Draft concluded. Do-it-all man Daniel Robert was the first Tiger name called yesterday, as he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 20th round. Robert played primarily in the field for Auburn at first base and right field, but the Rangers took him as a right-handed pitcher. In 2017, Robert had a 2.16 ERA in six appearances, striking out 11 batters and walking four. Another Auburn senior was drafted in the late rounds, Gabe Klobosits was selected by the Washington Nationals in round 36. The 6’7” right-handed pitcher appeared in 17 games for the Tigers this season, with four starts. In two seasons on the Plains, Klobosits had a 4.91 ERA and a record of 3-6 with 64 strikeouts and 30 walks allowed. Not only did two former Tigers get drafted, a few signees heard their name called as well. Both of Auburn's top prospects, Steven Williams and Tanner Burns, were drafted by the Yankees in rounds 35 and 37 respectively. Both have publicly stated that they intend to attend Auburn, regardless of the outcome.

Peyton Glavine (37th round) and Ryan Hoerter (36th round) were two more incoming Freshmen who were chosen yesterday in the MLB Draft. Those players join Keegan Thompson (Round 3), Jonah Todd (Round 6) and Evan Steele (Competitive Balance Pick B) as players or signees chosen in this season’s draft.

In other news, Auburn pitcher Casey Mize was recognized by Perfect Game and Rawlings as an All-American. Mize finished the season with an 8-2 record that saw him pitch two complete games. The sophomore had a 2.04 ERA and 109 strikeouts, which was sixth in the SEC. Mize was also named a Third Team All-American by Baseball America this season.
