Four Tigers Receive All-SEC Honors

Auburn Softball ended the regular season with another great outing, finishing with a 45-9 record. Many of the players that contributed to this season’s success were recognized by the Southeastern Conference office on Tuesday, as the league announced all-conference honors. Senior Kasey Cooper earned three awards from the SEC offices in Birmingham, including All-SEC second team, All-SEC defensive team, and scholar-athlete of the year, which she has won for the second consecutive year. Pitcher Kaylee Carlson, catcher Carlee Wallace, and outfielder Alyssa Rivera each picked up two honors each. Carlson and Wallace were named to the All-SEC first team, and All-SEC defensive team. Rivera was named to the All-SEC freshman team and joins Cooper on the All-SEC second team. Auburn’s four players selected is a record-tying number for the program. The 2005 and 2015 team also had four players recognized.

KASEY COOPER-- 3B--SR-- DOTHAN, ALABAMA The Mechanical Engineering Major currently sports a 3.98 GPA Two-time Academic All-American, finalist for Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award Second player in SEC history to repeat as Scholar-Athlete of the Year, first for Auburn Second player in SEC history to record 250 hits and 250 RBI in her career, SEC all-time leader with 266 career RBI One of three players in the SEC to have 40-plus RBI, 30-plus runs scored, 20-plus extra-base hits and at least five stolen bases. Ends regular season batting .301 with nine home runs and 42 RBI. Started in 53 of 54 games Has a .959 fielding percentage to end the regular season

KAYLEE CARLSON-- P--JR-- GARDEN GROVE, CALIFORNIA 25 wins this season leads all SEC pitchers in that category, 1.17 ERA One of two pitchers to win 10 or more SEC games this season Tossed 19 complete games in 2017, 15 in SEC play. 2nd in SEC with 179 innings of work 1.000 fielding percentage. 45 assists and 10 putouts

CARLEE WALLACE-- C--JR-- ALPINE, CALIFORNIA Led team in hits (55), extra-base hits (28), RBI (47), slugging percentage (.641) and on-base percentage (.482) Involved in 13 game-winning plays, either by RBI or run scored 14 multi-hit games, 13 games with two or more RBI .981 fielding percentage

ALYSSA RIVERA--FR--OF-- EAGLE LAKE, FLORIDA Led all SEC freshmen with a .379 average in 44 games played Had 20 hits and 10 runs scored against SEC competition 12 multi-hit games, seven games with two or more RBI 1.000 fielding percentage, three outfield assists Postseason play begins for Auburn on Thursday at 4 P.M. in the SEC Tournament. The 2-seed Tigers will play the winner of Kentucky-South Carolina in Knoxville, Tennessee.
