In a surprising turn of events, it was announ
ced on Thursday night that associate head coach for Auburn Softball, Corey Myers, has resigned effective immediately.
“It is with great sadness today that I announce that I will be stepping down as associate head coach of the Auburn University softball team,” Myers said in the official press release from Auburn University athletic communications. “It became clear to me that my relationship with my family needs to be my top priority right now and therefore felt that I must step away. I thank the Auburn family for everything they have done for my family and myself. We absolutely love living on the plains and will forever feel like Auburn is our home.”
Myers has served as pitching coach for Auburn ever since his father, Clint, took over the program in 2014. This season, Auburn pitchers have a combined 1.32 ERA.
Auburn's next game is Friday at 5 P.M. against Georgia, the beginning of a three-game SEC series.
