Auburn Soccer is eager to return to the pitch after one of the most successful seasons in 2016, where they enjoyed 17 wins, and their deepest NCAA Tournament run in school history, and elite eight appearance. The Tigers will not have to wait much longer, as the 2017 spring schedule has been released. Auburn will play five contests during the spring schedule against four opponents that they faced in 2016. The Tigers open spring play on Saturday, March 4 against SEC foe, Mississippi State. Two returning players, Kristen Dodson and Ellie Leek, scored a goal in their October 9 match, which was a 3-0 win. Next up, Auburn will travel north to Birmingham on March 9 to face Samford. In Auburn’s 4-3 win over Samford on August 28, Leek and Dodson again led the pack. Dodson notched two goals, while Leek picked up one. Auburn will take two weeks off following the Samford game, and will return home to face LSU on March 25. Auburn won a thriller over the Bayou Bengals on October 20 in Baton Rouge. It was a Casie Ramsier goal in the 89th minute that sealed Auburn’s 3-2 win, their seventh straight at the time. The following Saturday, Auburn Soccer will meet the Georgia Bulldogs in neutral site action on April 1 in Atlanta. The Tigers needed to come from behind to beat Georgia in Athens on September 25. Trailing 2-1 at the break, Dodson and Bri Folds scored three Auburn goals to move Auburn past Georgia, 4-2. Finally, Auburn will close out the spring schedule by traveling to Ole Miss on April 22. The Rebels are the only team that Auburn did not face in 2016. Their last meeting was on October 16, 2015, a 2-0 loss in Oxford.
