It is always a great feeling to see preseason awards being given in any sport because that means the season is drawing near. The SEC Office in Birmingham announced Wednesday that Auburn third baseman Kasey Cooper has been named to the All-SEC team, her third honor as a Tiger. Kasey Cooper’s junior campaign in 2016 was one for the history books, as she recorded 21 home runs, 163 total bases, a .581 on-base percentage, and tied a SEC record with 83 RBI. Her performance on the field garnered her SEC player of the year and ESPNW player of the year honors. Much like the SEC Preseason poll, the All-SEC preseason selections are voted on by coaches around the league. Each coach voted for a minimum of five infielders, four outfielders, three pitchers, a catcher, and a designated player. Joining Cooper on the All-Preseason SEC team are Cortni and Sydni Emanuel of Georgia, Carli Hoover of LSU, and Kayli Kvistad of Florida. Auburn opens the season on February 9 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at the Triple Crown Tournament. The season-opening game against Oklahoma will begin at 1 P.M.
