Auburn Women’s Basketball hits the road one final time before Christmas, by taking part in the Tulane Classic in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Tigers will begin their journey on Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. when they face the 6-3 Drake Bulldogs. Out of their six wins, Drake has two over Big Ten teams (Nebraska and Iowa). They are led by Lissy Wendell’s 21.2 points per contest. Drake enters the week averaging 81 points per, while only allowing 71. The second half has been the strongest for Drake, as they average 33 and 20 points in the third and fourth quarter respectively. Auburn has three starters currently averaging double-digit scoring games (Frerking, Montgomery, McKay), and leads the nation in forced turnovers per game (25), and ninth in steals (13.2). In their last game, Auburn was down 61-52 to Virginia Tech heading into the fourth quarter and stormed back to tie the game at 77, and force overtime. The Hokies pulled away, however, and Auburn fell for the third time in 2016, 92-87. Janiah McKay led the Tigers with 28 points. Auburn faces Drake on Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. in New Orleans. Auburn will face either Tulane or Eastern Washington on Thursday, time TBA.
