Six Tigers named to All-SEC Team

It was announced on Tuesday that six players have been named to the 2016 All- SEC team. Running back Kamryn Pettway, Defensive End Carl Lawson, Kicker Daniel Carlson were all named to the first team, while offensive linemen Braden Smith and Alex Kozan, as well as defensive lineman Montravius Adams were named to the second team. Offensively, Auburn averages 449 yards per game, and it starts with linemen Alex Kozan and Braden Smith. Smith and Kozan were a part of an offense that finished the regular season 5th in the SEC in total yards, and first in rushing yards with an average of 278.5 yards per game. Auburn’s running game averaged 38 more yards per game than the second-place team in the SEC. Speaking of rushing, Kamryn Pettway carried the load for Auburn, despite only playing in 9 games. Pettway ended the season with 1,123 yards and seven touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Auburn fans and opposing offense’s alike both saw how dominating Auburn’s defensive line can be when Montravius Adams and a healthy Carl Lawson are on the field together. Lawson led the team in sacks with 9 sacks, and Adams was right behind him with 4.5 sacks. Combined, the two had 67 tackles with 21 of those being for loss. Finally, Daniel Carlson earns first team honors after finishing the regular season connecting on 26 of 30 field goals, with a long of 53. It was also announced on Monday that Carlson was named a second team All-American by Pro Football Focus. Auburn finished the season with an 8-4 record and ranked #14 in the final College Football Poll. Auburn will face Oklahoma in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on January 2nd at 7:30 P.M.
