Auburn Soccer advances in the SEC Soccer Tournament with a win over Tennessee on Wednesday in Orange Beach. A wild second half that would see senior Casie Ramsier score three goals would be enough to push Auburn past Tennessee, 3-1.
Auburn and Tennessee ended the first half tied at 0, but Auburn quickly jumped on the board when the teams returned to the field. Ramsier scored her first goal in the 47th-minute, when she took a header from Bri Folds. Ramsier found the net again in the 54th-minute with an assist from Kristen Dodson. The final goal of the match would be scored in the 73rd-minute, when Brooke Ramsier assisted her sister Casie’s third and final goal by finding her at the top of the box.
Tennessee’s only goal came in the 56th-minute.
The three-goal performance by Ramsier was the first of her career, and the first time since 2011 that a Tiger has accomplished that feat. All of Ramsier’s goals came in the second half, the last time that happened was in 2000. Ashton Brock, Kristen Dodson, Bri Folds, Haley Gerken and Brooke Ramsier all registered an assist in win.
Auburn will have the night off on Thursday, and will take on Arkansas in the semi-finals on Friday at 7 P.M. in Orange Beach. An Auburn win would move them to the conference championship game on Sunday at 4 P.M.
