Lawson named Semi-Finalist for Bednarik Award

Ron Jaworski, Maxwell Football Club President, announced the semifinalists for the 2016 Maxwell and Bednarik Awards, and an Auburn Tiger was named to the list.

Defensive End Carl Lawson is one of nine student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference who have made the list of candidates for the Chuck Bednarik award, which is given to the best defensive player in college football as determined by a list of eligible voters that include Maxwell Football Club members, NCAA head football coaches, sports information directors and selected national media.

Through 8 games, Lawson has recorded 18 total tackles. Nine of those tackles have gone for a loss, and 7.5 have been quarterback sacks.
