Auburn Soccer entered their weekend match tied with Arkansas for second place in the SEC. Each team had a 6-1 conference record and 18 points. The Tigers and Hogs would battle it out on Friday night, to determine who would take possession of that second spot. Auburn used their five-game winning streak as momentum and would defeat Arkansas, 3-2. The second half provided fireworks, as neither team could score in the first half. Brooke Ramsier changed that in the 49th minute, as she sent a free kick into the back of the net. Kristen Dodson would extend the lead just 12 minutes later when she chipped the ball past the goalkeeper. Gianna Montini set up the score for Dodson. To seal the deal, Casie Ramsier scored the Tigers third goal of the night during the 82nd minute off of a pass from Bri Folds. Following the game, Ramsier said that she was happy that she could contribute to the win. “To be able and get that goal to lift us up over a big team like Arkansas was huge,” said the senior, “So I’m just happy I could get it done for the team.” Arkansas scored goals in the 69th and 88th minute of the contest. Auburn is now 11-4 overall, and 7-1 in conference play. They are winners of six straight contests, and now has control of second place in the SEC. The last time that a soccer team from Auburn won six consecutive contests was in 2004, and this is the fifth time in program history that Auburn soccer has won 7 conference games. Casie and Brooke Ramsier, as well as Kristen Dodson each scored goals for Auburn; Bri Folds, Gianna Montini, and Taylor Troutman each picked up a point for their assists in the match. Auburn will round out their road schedule this weekend, with trips to LSU, and Texas A&M. Auburn battles LSU in Baton Rouge on Thursday at 6 P.M. The Tigers will then travel to College Station to face the Aggies of Texas A&M on Sunday at 5 P.M.
