Auburn Soccer continued their winning ways on Friday, when they defeated Missouri, 1-0. The win was the third win in a row within the conference.

Auburn’s only goal came in the 64th minute, when they drew a corner kick. Brooke Ramsier’s kick would find the box, and the head of defender Karl Gutsche.

Goalkeeper Sarah La Beau played a key role in the win as well. In 90 minutes, La Beau recorded four saves on 13 Missouri shots. Overall, the Tiger defense is what impressed Coach Karen Hoppa the most.

“Sarah (La Beau) did a great job cleaning up everything behind them and it was led by a tremendous performance by our center backs.” said Hoppa following the game. “Karli Gutsche and Kiana Clarke were outstanding all game.”

The shutout of Missouri was the fifth shutout of the season by the Tigers. Also, the 4-1 SEC record is the best start for Auburn Soccer since 2007. Through those five games, Auburn has 12 points. Auburn currently sits third in SEC, behind Arkansas and South Carolina, who are both undefeated in conference play.

Next for Auburn is a road trip to Kentucky next Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 P.M.
