We knew who they were playing, but not when they were playing.
The Southeastern Conference announced on Tuesday the conference football schedules for 2017. Auburn will play 7 home games, including the first three games. Their first conference game of the season will be on the road.
Auburn will open the season on September 2nd with a tough foe from the Sun Belt Conference, Georgia Southern. Georgia Southern will enter their fourth year of FBS competition in 2017, already earning one conference title, in 2014. Next on the list, is the return trip to Clemson on September 9. Auburn will look to extend their 11-game winning streak on September 16 against Mercer. The Bears revamped their football team in 2013 following a 70-year hiatus. Auburn and Mercer last played in 1922.
After three consecutive non-conference games, the Tigers will open SEC play on the road at Missouri on September 23. Auburn has only played Mizzou once since they joined the conference in 2012, which was a 59-42 win in the 2013 SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome. Auburn will then shift their focus to the Mississippi Schools, facing Mississippi State and Ole Miss at home in back-to-back weeks (Sept. 30 and Oct. 7).
Auburn will begin a tough four game stretch on October 14, when they hit the road for a three game road trip to LSU (October 14), Arkansas (October 21), and Texas A&M (November 4), before returning home to face Georgia on November 11.
To finish out the regular season, Auburn will host Louisiana-Monroe on November 18, and Alabama on November 25.
New to 2017, the SEC Championship game will move from its familiar location, the Georgia Dome, to the brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Mercedes-Benz Stadium will also host the 2017 National Championship Game.
