Soccer Opens Conference Play Friday

Conference play begins this weekend for Auburn Soccer, as they host the Commodores of Vanderbilt on Friday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex.

Auburn struggled at home last weekend during the Auburn Soccer Classic, going 0-2 against Iowa State and Southern California respectively, while being shutout in both games.

Vanderbilt enters the match at 4-2, and riding a three game win streak. During the streak, they have scored 14 goals, while only allowing one. The player to watch is Grace Jackson. The freshman has recorded 3 goals and 5 assists during her short time as a Commodore.

Auburn’s stat leaders entering the match include senior Casie Ramsier, who is two shots away from moving into second place all time, while four Tigers lead in assists with 2 (Brooke Ramsier, Kristen Dodson, Bri Folds, and Courtney Schell.

Auburn has a nine game winning streak over Vanderbilt, and leads the all-time series, 9-6-4.

Auburn will close out the non-conference schedule on Sunday at home against Baylor at 2PM. Baylor will enter the weekend at 5-1, their lone loss was a 1-0 decision over Michigan State on the road. Sophomore Lauren Piercy leads the Bears in scoring, with 5 goals.

Auburn hosts Vanderbilt this Friday to open conference play, at 6PM, and will wrap up the non-conference schedule on Sunday against Baylor at 2PM. Each game will be played at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
