Jeff Holland: "He's Like a Mentor"
One of Auburn’s most talented, young linebackers is taking it all in.
Auburn Linebacker Jeff Holland spoke with the media Tuesday night following practice to discuss how preseason practice was going in 2016, which will be his second as an Auburn Tiger. One of the highlights from his session, was his admiration for fellow linebacker, junior Carl Lawson.
“I’m blessed to have a teammate like Carl (Lawson)” said Holland, “He’s like a mentor.”
When asked why he looks up to Carl, work ethic came to mind.
“He’s a student of the game, he studies, we watch film together, we work on our hand moves, he studies the small things” Holland said of Lawson.
The number one player in the recruiting class of 2015, Byron Cowart, will begin his sophomore campaign this season at Auburn. Cowart finished with 6 total tackles as a freshman last season, but Holland had encouraging words for Auburn fans when asked about how hard Cowart was working in practice.
“Byron is working extremely hard, he is getting better everyday” says Holland, “He is getting more physical.”
Holland also spoke on behalf of himself, saying that he feels that he has made a lot of progress, and that he is more focused today, than he was at this point last season.
